We are a tuition free, public charter
school offering a
rigorous
curriculum that prepares our students for college and the global
marketplace. Our small K-8 school offers more individualized instruction
for students at both the elementary and middle school levels. We take
pride in the fact that our "family" atmosphere caters to the students
and gives parents the assurance that their child will be more than just
a face in the crowd. We have a diverse population of students and staff
which makes our school a fertile learning ground and gives our students
the opportunity to see global learning at its best. We are confident
that students who leave our school will be fully capable of competing
successfully with students from the county, the state, the nation, and
the world.
Coursework
In
this age of accountability, Guilford Preparatory Academy continues to
perform
satisfactorily according to state and federal requirements. This is only
possible because students at GPA are held to high academic and social
standards.
All of our subjects are
taught in accordance with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study,
and unlike most schools, Spanish is a part of our core curriculum. We
combine the state curriculum with the school adopted Saxon curriculum to
create an engaging hands-on learning experience for our students. We
believe in the power of data and because of this our students are tested
regularly in efforts to provide them with the best instruction, reduce
test anxiety, and prepare them for college.
Parent Community Involvement

Our Parent Teacher
Association (PTA) is extremely active and plays a large role in helping
to motivate our students, encourage our teachers, and bring the
community into our school.
This active group of
parents helps promote our school and we encourage all of our parents to
join this team of men and women who go the extra mile for GPA.
Along with our parent
involvement, we believe strongly in the power of positive community
involvement and support. This year alone representatives from the city
council, college presidents, and university interns have all volunteered
their services to advance the success of our students.
